About Me

Hello, it's nice to meet you!

I never thought I'd be much of a blogger and I must admit I'm still not much of one. However, like everyone we each have interests and insights that we occasionally feel we'd like to share or at least remember and so here I am.

I've lived in New York City on and off for the past 9 years (save for a year and half out in LA), always off the L train. While most people identify that as Brooklyn (myself included) I have discovered the hidden gem of Ridgewood, Queens and have made it home for the past few years.

Before New York, I grew up down south in North Carolina, went to high school in Maryland, and then College in Washington DC.  Upon graduating, my friends and I headed to South Korea to teach English, and travel the world!  After all that we needed a central spot to settle into again state side and most of us aimed for New York.

Once there I got involved in film and eventually went back to school to earn a graduate degree in filmmaking.  This took me out to LA for a bit which was right around the time I started this blog but kept me so busy I never had time to up date it.

Eventually, I made my way back to the city and found myself back in school both as a teacher and a graduate fellow for general/special education grades 1-6.  With the degree all finally wrapped up and my elementary school right in the neighborhood, I have discovered I have a bit more time to indulge in wanderings and recipes, which I hope to share with those of you who come across KEEN and ABLE.

P.S. I was recently reflecting on why I blog.  I've had this blog (though the name has changed over the years) since 2011. That's seven years. During those years my blog has been left untouched occasionally by myself and consistently by everyone else. Every now and then, I might send a link of it to my parents or best friends to show them some pictures I had mentioned, but honestly no one reads it.  Leaving me to decide if I want people to read it or not.

I'm not the best at blogging but every now and then I go full force and really enjoy myself, sitting down to write something, editing a photo, arranging it all in a new lay out. It's entertaining and in that, I have found I do not need or seek readers and followers in the way one might if they were sincerely attempting to produce entertainment and or a service for their readers. I'd love to do that of course if you find anything at all interesting but I have come to realize I blog because I like the process. Keeping myself busy in a meaningful way by sorting through my memories and day to day doings and in effect collecting them here in this modern format of a scrape book-my blog.
