THE HIGH LINE
After hitting up the 9th Ave Food Festival this past weekend, my friend Jess and I made our way downtown via The Hudson River Greenway (which
runs along the west water front of Manhattan, all the way from Dyckman
Street down to Battery Park). It was a bit overcast which worked to our
advantage- keeping the crowds at bay throughout the leisurely afternoon.
Once we intersected 20th Street we jumped up to the High Line Park,
an old railway track which has been masterfully reconstituted into a
verdant park. It really is something else! We followed it's lovely
garden beds and city views down to Gansevoort Plaza in the Meat Packing
district but opted to bypass the classic designer shops to do some
grocery shopping over at Chelsea Market (West
15th Street and 9th Avenue). But no trip to Chelsea Market is complete
without the most velvety Toasted Almond and Vanilla milk shake you will
ever taste at the Ronnybrook Dariy.
